Viva
Brings Life to the Toronto Club Scene
| Vertex
Sound and Lighting recently completed another EAW install at
Viva, a popular rave club, in Toronto. "We were able to
successfully displace an EV X-array system that had already
been installed in the space with only two weeks to go before
the grand opening," said Bob Vonesh of Vertex. The new
1,800-person club, occupying about 18,000 square feet, is |

every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 PM until the wee
hours of the morning. Viva’s main rig consists of 8- EAW
KF850 loudspeakers, 8- LA400 and 14- SB1000z subs, 2- JBL quad
2404 tweeter packs, and Crest amps. Processing is taken care
of by an EAW MX800i with an Ashly Protea II as a slave EQ with
computercontrol. The DJ booth features 2- UB82 loudspeakers
used for monitors, 1- SB180 for a booth sub, a Rane MP-44 mixer,
3- Technik SL-1200 turntables, and a Denon DN-2600 CD player.
Vertex also supplied Viva with their lighting expertise. The
lighting rig includes a powerful multicolor laser, multiple
video projection, over 30 High End intelligent lights, and extensive
custom made metalwork and trussing. "Since opening, the
system is run hard three nights a week with an average |
 |
of
124dB at the center of dance floor and with no failures of any
drivers to date!" continued Vonesh. "In fact, I had
a client call me inquiring about KF850s for his club, after
hearing this rig. This man already owns KF650s, but was blown
away by the rig at Viva and now wants to talk upgrade. Very
cool." |
